S. Indiana man facing murder charge after human remains found on property

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Orange County, Indiana man is accused of murdering his wife after police found human remains at his home.

Police say they found bones late Wednesday, but investigators and anthropologists were back on the scene Thursday morning. The property is on South County Road 250 East, outside of Paoli.

"Last week they received information that there may be possible remains, or she may be on the property here," said Indiana State Police Sgt. Philip Hensley.

Hensley is referring to 34-year-old Michelle Fulton. He says she's been missing for months.

"This is her property, this is where she lived, her and her husband," he said.

After finding human remains in the woods, police are charging Michelle's husband, 48-year-old Jeffrey Fulton with murder. Police say Michelle is originally from the Philippines. Neighbors say the couple kept to themselves.

According to a missing persons report filed with the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Michelle hasn't been seen since June 18, when she was dropped off at a K-Mart in Jasper, Indiana. It was July 10 when a CPS worker notified the sheriff's office.

The report says Michelle's cousin was the one to contact authorities. In an incident narrative the detective writes, "There was concern that her husband Jeffrey had something to do with her disappearance."

"With her not being from the area, she didn't have a lot of family here, so the avenues to begin investigating through are somewhat narrowed down, so that's what stalled the case," Hensley said.

While police say Jeffrey Fulton didn't report her missing, we did find a post on his Facebook page, offering a reward for help finding her. Police believe he knew where she was all along.
