LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man for shooting his own brother in the back of the head during an argument over cocaine.

According to an arrest report, it happened on Howard Street, near the intersection of 22nd Street and W. Broadway, just before 3 p.m. Thursday. Police say 31-year-old Joseph F. Thompson accused his brother of stealing his cocaine, so he shot him in the back of the head.

The victim's skull was fractured, causing his brain to bleed, and resulting in blindness, according to the arrest report. Thompson allegedly hid the gun after the crime, but his brother was able to identify him as the shooter.

Thompson was arrested and charged with first degree assault, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, tampering with physical evidence and possession of a controlled substance.
