Petition, YouTube video plead for ISIS to release Indiana man

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - An Indiana family released a YouTube video today asking ISIS to free their son.

Ed and Paula Kassig address their son Peter as Abdul-Rahman Kassig since they say he converted to Islam while being held hostage.

"Most of all know that we love you," Paula Kassig said. "And our hearts ache for you to be granted your freedom so we can hug you again ... We implore those who are holding you to show mercy and use their power to let you go."

Peter was captured last year while providing humanitarian aid for refugees escaping the civil war in Syria.

Yesterday, his captors threatened his life in a video that appears to show the beheading of a British aid worker.

More than a thousand people have signed a petition on Facebook to bring Kassig home.
