LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The southern Indiana man charged with murder in connection with his wife's disappearance has pleaded not guilty.

Jeffrey Fulton appeared before a judge in Orange County on Monday.

Investigators found human remains on his property outside of Paoli last week.

Court documents say Fulton hit his wife, Michelle, over the head with a frying pan. A family member told police Fulton then built a large fire and burned her body in the backyard.

Michelle Fulton had been missing for about four months.

Jeffrey Fulton told police that the last time he saw Michelle was when he dropped her off at a Jasper K-Mart in June.
