Police in Hammond, Ind. accused of excessive force

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Excessive force, false arrest, assault and battery are the charges being brought against an Indiana police department.

And center stage in the lawsuit is chilling video from a cell phone.

Police say Lisa Mahone was pulled over in Hammond for not wearing a seat belt in September.

Mahone was on her way to the hospital with two children and her boyfriend Jamal Jones in the car.

Once the car was stopped the officer ordered Jones out of the front passenger's seat.

Officers claim he did not cooperate.

Jones said, "I got shot in my back with a taser. It felt like my body was going to shut down, and then he tasered me on the ground. I'm asking please, please stop tasering me."

The Hammond Police Department says officers feared for their safety.
