Fort Campbell soldiers preparing for provide Ebola aid in Africa

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- More Kentucky soldiers are training to deal with the fight against Ebola in Africa.

A group of more than 150 soldiers from Fort Campbell have been in the classroom, listening to instructions from the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infections Diseases.

The Army's 101st Airborne Division will start deploying some 1,800 troops to Liberia by the end of the month.

"An entirely different mission on many different levels than what we have been doing the last 10-15 years in Iraq and Afghanistan that what many of us, frankly, are more comfortable with," said U.S. Army Captain Alex Willard.

With the previously announced deployments, this will bring the total army commitment to fight Ebola to 3,200 soldiers.
