Harrison County man in court after DUI crash that killed infant

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 19-year-old man accused of causing a crash that left an infant dead in Corydon, Indiana last week was in court Friday.

The Harrison County Sheriff's Department says Gregory Puckett 19 was arrested after he collided with another vehicle on Oct. 11 on Hwy. 62 near Hidden Valley Northeast. The infant's mother, Rachel Blumenstock, was taken to University Hospital. Her infant daughter was pronounced dead at the scene.

Puckett is now charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated and illegal consumption of alcohol by a minor. He covered his face while entering court on Friday.

A not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. He was allowed to bond out of jail for now, but could face more charges as investigators continue their investigation.

"At this point there is certainly a likelihood that he could face a much more significant charge of OWI causing death," said Harrison County Prosecutor Otto Schalk. "However, at this stage we're still in the fact-gathering phase, and until we receive our accident reconstruction report, we won't be able to make that determination."

We learned Friday that Puckett and Blumenstock went to the same school.

Puckett is due back in court on Nov. 24.
