LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Louisville Metro Police have arrested and charged a man with attempted murder after they say he shot a victim on Plymouth Court, according to LMPD records.

Javonte Grant was arrested Saturday around 2:00 a.m., after police say he shot a victim on August 28 in the 1600 block of Plymouth Court, near South 16th Street. Police allege that Grant shot the victim in the head.

Police say that the victim identified Grant as the shooter before losing consciousness. The victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition, according to police. Authorities say the victim has remained unconscious since the shooting and is currently in a vegetative state.

Police records indicate that before the shooting occurred, Grant became involved in a domestic dispute with the mother of his child. Police say that Grant hit his child's mother in the face with his hand and attempted to choke her.

Police say the victim confronted Grant, after learning about the altercation. Grant stated he was going to get a gun and return to kill the victim, according to police.

Police say that Grant fled the state after the shooting happened and was arrested when he arrived at the Greyhound Bus Station in Louisville.

Grant faces charges of attempted murder, wanton endangerment and assault. He is being held on a $750,000 cash bond.
