LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Radcliff, Ky. man has been accused of criminally abusing a child.

According to a criminal complaint, the incident took place in the early morning hours of October first in Hardin County.

The complaint states that 21-year-old James Alexander Boone "inflicted cruel punishment" on his girlfriend's child, who was under the age of 12 at the time of the incident. Boone allegedly grabbed the child, pulled him out of bed and dragged him down a flight of stairs by his ankle.

As a result, the boy suffered injuries to his rib cage and right elbow, according to the complaint.

The child was taken to the University of Louisville School of Medicine, and authorities determined that his injuries were consistent with being dragged down the stairs by his ankles.

Boone has been charged with first degree criminal abuse of a child under the age of 12. He was arrested by the Hardin County Sheriff's Office on Monday, and is currently being held in the Hardin County Detention Center.
