Police in Gary, Ind. say man led them to multiple female murder victims

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A man led Gary, Indiana police to the bodies of a half-dozen women.

Darren Vann has only been charged in the death of a seventh woman so far; however, police say other murder charges are likely.

Police were aware of Vann since he is a registered sex offender.

He was monitored just last month and everything checked out fine, until this weekend when the 43-year-old was arrested for murder at a Motel 6.

Vann didn't stay quiet. He reportedly led police to the bodies of at least six other women, all within five miles of each other in abandoned buildings in Gary, Indiana.

Cpl. Gabrielle King of the Gary Police Department said, "Every place that he's told us, thus far, that there was a body, they did recover a body, and if he keeps talking, we're going to keep following up on the leads that he gives us."

Vann spent five years in jail in Texas for aggravated sexual assault.

Police in Indiana say Vann is cooperating in these cases and they are still investigating.
