Grimes speaks to Young Professionals of Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Alison Grimes, the Democratic candidate for Kentucky's U.S. Senate seat, was in Louisville Wednesday morning to speak to the Young Professionals of Louisville.

Earlier this month, the group hosted Grimes' opponent, U.S. Sen. Mitch McConnell. The breakfast was an opportunity for YPAL members to learn more about Grimes and ask questions.

"I came out of court one day, helping a victim of domestic violence (litigation is my background)," Grimes said. "And as I came out, I had the client, who spoke little-to-no English, along with her daughter, just give me a hug with tears running down their face, saying, 'Thank you.' And I knew then, I heard my mama telling me each and every day, 'Make this the best day yet.' And I set out to do that."

Grimes launched a three-day, 13-county bus tour Wednesday that she is calling "Kentucky versus Washington."

Meanwhile, McConnell is on a three-day "Coal Country" bus tour, visiting 15 counties in eastern Kentucky.
