Southeast Christian Church opens fourth location in southwest Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Southeast Christian Church is expanding to its fourth location. Two years after the announcement was made, the Southwest Campus is opening its doors this weekend.

Mechanical Lifts, cardboard boxes, and fresh paint are all part of the finishing touches.

“There's an overwhelming sense of excitement,” said Pastor James Hauser.

The Southwest Campus on St. Andrews Church road is the church's fourth location. In total about 22,000 members attend the churches' services on the weekends. Pastor Hauser believes the number will grow from people coming out of curiosity or because it's an opportunity to stay in their community.

“But who we really want to see come through our doors are people who don't know Jesus,” said Hauser.

A 1,200 seat sanctuary, nursery, cafe, and classrooms fill the space of the 55,000 square foot building.

Despite all eyes that will be on him Sunday, Pastor Hauser says he's not afraid to be in front of a large crowd. He's worried about something else.

“I think the biggest thing that makes me the most nervous is that I want people who come here to feel like this is where they belong.”

During his ten years with Southeast Christian Church, he says the goal has been to give people a church home who don't currently have one.

“I long for people to really connect with the church as a body, but also with Jesus and I realize that if nobody connects with the one or two people that walk in and quietly walk out, the chances of us being able to really introduce them to Jesus are slim,” said Pastor Hauser.

Worship services are at 9:15 a.m. and 11 a.m. every Sunday.
