Another New Albany Police officer claims discrimination

Posted: Updated:
NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WDRB) -- Another New Albany Police Officer is claiming discrimination by the department.

In a lawsuit filed in federal court last week, Officer Joshua Pearman claims he was denied "light duty" after ankle surgery. Pearman says he was advised there was no "light duty" available, even though other employees on disability were allowed to work at the front desk.

The officer says he was discriminated and retaliated against due to his relationship with fellow officer Laura Schook. Schook has a pending lawsuit against the city claiming corruption, padded overtime and discrimination within the department.

The most recent lawsuit has been filed, but the New Albany Police Department has yet to be served.
