BOZICH | My Associated Press college basketball Top 25 ballot

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – The Associated Press college basketball pre-season poll was released earlier Friday, and I'm thinking what the other voters are thinking.

And I didn't look at anybody else's work. Promise.

Kentucky has the experienced pieces to start the season ranked first. The other 64 voters agree.

Louisville has enough experienced pieces – and questions – to be ranked in the top 10. I said eighth. The other 64 voters agreed.

Interesting coincidence because UK and U of L were two of five teams that I slotted in the same spots they finished in the poll. The other three? Duke (fourth), Ohio State (20th) and SMU (22nd).

Of course, there were four teams that I voted for that did not make the Top 25: Iowa, Stanford, Arkansas and Dayton. Those teams are from four different leagues so I hope to dodge charges of Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC or Atlantic 10 bias.

Five teams made the poll that I ignored: Connecticut, Syracuse, Michigan, Harvard, Utah. (The numbers are uneven because Utah and Harvard finished tied for 25th).

Here's my vote. Fire away. (I'll share my all-American first team on Saturday.)

1. Kentucky (1st in AP poll, 29-11 last season).

2. Wisconsin (3rd, 30-8)

3. Arizona (2nd, 33-5)

4. Duke (4th, 26-9)

5. North Carolina (6th, 24-10)

6. Texas (10th, 24-11)

8. Louisville (8th, 31-6)

9. Wichita State (11th, 35-1)

10. Virginia (9th, 30-7)

15. Villanova (12th, 29-5)

16. VCU (15th, 26-9)
