WKU student from Louisville dies in house fire

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) -- A Western Kentucky University student has died in a house fire that left another man injured.

Warren County Deputy Coroner Chris Smith says 20-year-old Tyler English of Louisville was killed Friday morning in Bowling Green.

English was a sophomore construction management major and recruited for the Hilltopper football team as an offensive lineman prior to his freshman year in 2012. However, after being injured in an off-season car wreck, he not able to play.

Fire Department spokeswoman Marlee Boenig told the Daily News a roommate whose name has not been released was injured and taken to The Medical Center. She did not know the extent of his injuries.

Firefighters were investigating the cause of the fire at the off-campus apartment.
