Louisville Mayor announces state grant to fund new public library in Okolona

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A $6 million state grant will allow construction to start on a new library in Okolona soon.

Louisville mayor Greg Fischer made the announcement Wednesday.

The South Central Regional Library will be located at Jefferson Boulevard and McCauley Road, near Jefferson Mall.

The funds for the library are coming from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.

The entire project will cost $14.5 million and construction is slated to begin in 2016.
