LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police say they've arrested a man responsible for robbing and killing a man in the city's west end.

According to an arrest report, it happened on Oct. 28, on Garland Avenue, near S. 31st Street. Police say 25-year-old Terron E. Johnson was found inside a vehicle near that intersection. He had been shot multiple times, according to the report, and was later pronounced dead at University Hospital.

Police say witnesses identified 27-year-old Jessie R. Smith as "an active participant" in Johnson's death, and surveillance video of the scene recorded a vehicle at the scene moments before gunshots could be heard. That vehicle, according to police, had been driven by Smith prior to the shooting.

Police say they also obtained phone records showing that Smith and Johnson exchanged several phone calls in the period leading up to the shooting.

Finally, witnesses came forward saying they saw Smith going through Johnson's pockets right after the shooting, according to the arrest report.

Smith was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with murder and first degree robbery.
