Pavement restoration work means lanes will shift on Lewis & Clark Pkwy. overpass Friday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Commuters who travel on Interstate 65 near Lewis & Clark Parkway in southern Indiana should be prepared for lane changes beginning Friday morning.

That's when the Indiana Department of Transportation plans to shift northbound Interstate 65 traffic to allow for pavement restoration on the overpass. Drivers will be diverted at mile marker 3.4 to lanes and shoulder area on the left side of the highway.

The traffic shift requires closure of northbound I-65's ramp to Veterans Parkway at Exit 5.

American Construction is the contractor for INDOT's $2.7 million pavement restoration project between Sellersburg and Jeffersonville, from State Road 311 to Eastern Boulevard. Its crews will remove and replace the full depth of concrete pavement within a 600-foot section that has dropped below grade.

The traffic shift and pavement work on the right side of northbound I-65 for “dip correction” is expected to continue for the next several weeks.

Three 11-foot lanes should be open to traffic at all times.

Motorists are being directed to use Exit 4 to access Veterans Parkway during the Exit 5 closure. Signs will mark the detour route.
