LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Just after announcing official season ticket prices and a Founding Members Club, Louisville City FC is revising its seating chart for professional soccer at Slugger Field next summer.

The team, slated to begin play in April of 2015, is swapping the family zone and the supporters' zone at Slugger Field. The two sections are located in opposing end zones behind the goals.

The family zone will now be located behind the east goal and will include the bleachers, patio, overlook deck and sections 101 and 102 near the merry-go-round. Team officials say this will provide families with a little more room to stretch their legs and move around.

The supporters' zone, which will remain general admission, will now be situated directly behind the west goal in sections 121-124, located along the third base line.

“From the supporters point of view this presents a better vantage point for the fans to take in the sights and sounds of the game,” Louisville Coopers Vice President Timothy Clark said in an email Thursday. “It will put supporters closer to the action and also allow us to move our tifo/banners to a better location.”

“We are constantly evaluating our fan experience inside of Slugger Field on a daily basis,” said LCFC President Djorn Buchholz. “Following our most recent review of the demand for the supporters' zone and the amenities that a family zone should have, it became very apparent that this seating change would raise the level of fan experience inside of the venue.”

The team said the bleachers in the east end zone had many seats with a partially obstructed view -- something they decided was unacceptable for the supporters' zone.

“In soccer, your supporters are such a catalyst for your atmosphere,” said Buchholz. “Having the supporters directly behind the goal will only help them embed their influence on the match. I know we can't wait to see our supporters fill up this new supporters' zone at our first match in March. What a sight that will be.”

Coopers had voiced the idea of switching the end zone and the Club seems keen to take in suggestions from their supporters and potential season ticket holders.

“As far as the responsiveness from the club, the front office has seen fit to be as inclusive with The Coopers as possible,” Clark said of the group's interactions with the club. “We are one city and one club. We're building something together from scratch.”

The Coopers have been a part of the development of the club and Louisville City has worked to include them every step of the way.

"We are glad to see the seating changes made by the club, and are equally pleased that the club reached out to us and sought our input before making these changes," Coopers President Taylor Sorrels said.

With the switch, season ticket pricing in the supporters' zone and family zone will remain at $180.

Louisville City FC is currently accepting season ticket deposits for the season and if you purchase by February, you will become part of the Founding Members Club. To look at season ticket prices and to place a deposit, just visit www.LouisvilleCityFC.com.
