LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 20-year-old Lexington man was arrested in Carrollton, Ky. Saturday after police say he engaged in a sex act with a 14-year-old girl.

According to an arrest report, an officer from the Carrollton Police Department stopped David Vega on Saturday, just before midnight, as he was driving his Mitsubishi Eclipse on Highland Avenue. Police say his license plate was not properly illuminated.

But that wasn't the only issue: police say his vehicle fit the description of that driven by a 20-year-old suspect who had been calling, texting and seeing a 14-year-old girl in Carrollton. According to the arrest report, the girl's mother had discovered that her daughter had been meeting the suspect and texting him, and that she had sent him a message asking him to meet her at a mini-mart on 6th Street. The suspect had replied that he was driving a silver sports car.

Police asked Vega to come to the police department for questioning, and he allegedly agreed to do so of his own free will. Police say they also employed the services of a translator.

During the interview, police say Vega admitted engaging in sexual intercourse with the 14-year-old, as well as a sex act in his car at Butler Park.

Vega was arrested and charged with engaging in a prohibited use of an electronic communications system to procure a minor for sexual offenses, and second degree sex abuse.

He is currently incarcerated at the Carroll County Detention Center.
