Ky. expanding pilot program for home learning during snow days

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Department of Education is expanding a pilot program to keep the learning going even on snow days.

Students in 13 designated districts will be able to use a special computer program to connect to their teachers and complete assignments when winter weather shuts down school.

Department officials told lawmakers today that the Education Commissioner can approve up to 10 Snow Learning Days for each school district. The approved school districts are primarily in eastern and northern Kentucky.

Washington Co., Kentucky is the only district in the WDRB viewing area.
