Jury hands down one of the largest sentences for a drug case in Jefferson County history

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A jury has handed down a life sentence, plus 20 years for on drug charges.

Kenneth Goben was convicted of manufacturing meth, possession of firearms, and trafficking in a controlled substance, among other charges.

The jury chose for Goben to serve the sentences for each charge consecutively.

"Meth is an extremely dangerous drug because it involves people manufacturing it and that destroys their property," said prosecutor John Balenovich. "I think this jury was sick of it, so they handed down one of the largest sentences in Jefferson County sentences for a drug case."

Investigators said Goben set up a meth trafficking operation out of his apartment in 2009.
