LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officials at The Comfy Cow have issued an announcement that Don Berg, former Chief Financial Officer at Brown-Forman, has been named CEO of the company.

Berg will begin working in his new position immediately, according to officials with The Comfy Cow.

Tim Koons-McGee, a co-founder of The Comfy Cow said the company is at a crossroads with franchise store growth and national wholesale opportunities.

"Don is a remarkable talent and we are beyond thrilled that he has agreed to lead us as we embark on this next step of the evolution of The Comfy Cow," he said. "Roy and I have enjoyed the last five years growing and building the brand, developing the flavors and securing the absolute best ingredients we could source. In order for us to grow our concept to what we passionately believe is its true potential, we need experienced leadership and vision, and we feel Don is that person."

Berg said in a released statement: "I am very excited to work with everyone at The Comfy Cow. The team has done an outstanding job of creating a very special gourmet brand. All of the elements are here: a quality super-premium product that attracts impressive consumer loyalty, unique flavors, some of which tap into Louisville's essence such as Bourbon Ball and Simply Southern, and a great friendly and helpful in-store experience in a vintage setting. The opportunity to expand The Comfy Cow with new retail and franchise stores beyond Louisville, coupled with the opportunity to expand its relationships with wholesale partners such as Whole Foods, the future potential is very bright."

Berg was named CFO of Brown-Forman in May 2008. He began working for Brown-Forman in 1988 as an assistant to the president.
