Testimony begins in third day of Dejuan Hammond murder trial

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A key witness returned to the stand Monday in Dejuan Hammond's fourth murder trial.

Hammond's former girlfriend, Princess Bolin, spent more time on the stand Monday, but instead of questioning her, the Commonwealth showed the jury a video interview of her with detectives from 2011.

Bolin watched intently, sometimes shaking her head.

In the video, the detective pressed Bolin for details about the day Troya Sheckles was gunned down in Shelby Park in 2009.

Sheckles was a witness in Hammond's brother's murder trial.

Bolin initially admitted she was at the park that day. She told investigators she didn't know who the victim was, but was suspicious of Hammond after gunshots rang out.

When the detective asked her if she asked her then-boyfriend about the shooting, Bolin said she was too fearful.

"I never did ask," she said in the video.

"Why?" the detective asked.

"I don't know," she replied. "Scared to be meddling. Scared to be nosy…asking too many questions."

Later in the video, Bolin conceded that Hammond told her to scope out the area.

"I was asked to walk across the park and see who was all at the park," she said.

When she was on the stand Friday, Bolin answered "I don't recall" more than 50 times. She also testified that she and Hammond were at the mall the day Sheckles was murdered.
