LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman is carjacked at gunpoint in east Louisville and Metro Police have arrested three people in connection with the crime.

The suspects are Shaquille Martin, Daiquan Walker and Branielle Allen. Police say they followed the victim to the Douglas Hills area on Sunday morning.

"She kind of noticed that somebody was following her, at that point, she pulled over in an area where she was visiting a relative on Logsdon Court," said Major Barry Wilkerson, with LMPD's 8th Division.

Major Wilkerson said that's when the suspects approached the victim. "At that time they approached her at gunpoint, demanded her vehicle, then fled the area."

Police say the suspects left the scene in the victim's 2012 Black Ford Taurus.

"Fortunately for us, 4th division officers located that vehicle after a attempt to locate was put out from our officers," said Wilkerson.

LMPD Detectives caught up with the suspects several hours later in south Louisville.

"When they got stopped, they were in the black Ford Taurus," said Det. Travis Nichols, with LMPD's 4th Division.

Detective Nichols was on the scene and says the suspects were still armed at the time of the arrests. "There was a handgun that one of the subjects did have on his person that was in the car," det. Nichols said.

Nichols also said they learned the suspects had carjacked another woman earlier Sunday morning in the south end. "As she was attempting to get into the car, they, one of the subjects came up from behind her and pointed the gun at her and told her to give the car keys up," he explained.

Police say the victims did absolutely nothing wrong, but still offer a few suggestions; especially if you think someone if following you.

"Obviously [you] could drive straight to a police department, [you] could drive to an area that is more crowded or I guess where [you] would be in the public eye more," said Wilkerson.

The suspects are all locked up at Metro Corrections charged with robbery and fleeing police.
