Authorities identify two adults, one child killed in Jasper apartment fire

Posted: Updated:
JASPER, Ind. (AP) -- The coroner has identified the three people who died Wednesday in a Jasper apartment fire.

The fire killed 3-year-old Robert Parsley, his mother, 20-year-old Linsey Parsley, and her boyfriend, 20-year-old Alex Snedeker.

Jasper Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang says it appears the two adults had gone into the boy's room to rescue him and try to climb through a window after the pre-dawn fire broke out Wednesday. He told an Evansville TV station that investigators believe the fire started in a clogged dryer vent in the upstairs apartment of the two-story house.

Hochgesang says the downstairs residents were able to safely escape. The fire caused heavy smoke to pour from the upstairs windows.

Hochgesang says the two adults died at the scene and that the boy died at a hospital.
