LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Local military families are getting some extra help in time for Thanksgiving.

Brown-Forman donated a truckload of food for National Guard families.

Soldiers from the national guard picked up 25 boxes Wednesday morning, to be distributed throughout the next few days.

It's part of the 10th Annual Christmas Angel Program.

"We've got a lot of Kentucky National Guard soldiers that are in need and when local community organizations step up to help us, we are just so thankful because there is a huge need, especially at this time of year, the holiday season," said Capt. Mark Slaughter, with the Army National Guard's Family Assistance Center.

Last year, more than 400 military families were helped during Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you'd still like to donate, you can drop off food items, gift cards or money at any Mark's Feed Store.
