Light Up Louisville illuminates downtown

Posted: Updated:

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Fourth Street sparkles once again for the 40 Nights of Lights, through January 4th.

The 34th year for Light Up Louisville ceremonies started with a parade that featured more than 4,000 people, 500 instruments, 150 vehicles, and WDRB's very own Snowfox.

Santa himself then made his way downtown on his sleigh. He along with Mayor Greg Fischer plugged in the lights to illuminate the four blocks of Fourth Street including two Christmas trees, thousands of lights, and hundreds of light fixtures.

A 12 minute light show synchronized to music will also take place every night for the next 40 days.

The show happens every half hour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Saturday.
