LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Officials say a woman accused of stealing more than $20,000 from a school contracted by the Crawford County School District is wanted by law enforcement.

Authorities believe she's not too far away, but just out of their reach.

There was a warrant issued for Allison Millar on Oct. 31. She was supposed to turn herself in at the Crawford County Judicial Complex a few days later, but she never did.

"We're looking forward to moving the case along, and we need her in custody to move the case, to get the case started," said Crawford County Prosecutor Cheryl Hillenburg.

Hillenburg said the case involves 28 counts of theft.

A probable cause affidavit alleges two years of improper spending by Millar during her time as the executive director of the Crawford County Youth Service Bureau.

From Seaworld to Walmart to spa and flower purchases, Hillenburg estimates the total to be near $21,000, but Millar lives in Floyd County, just out of Crawford County's reach.

"We count on the state police or local law enforcement in the county that the person resides in to help us out," said Hillenburg.

WDRB knocked on the door at Millar's listed address and no one answered.

A Crawford County Sheriff's Deputy says Indiana State Police have checked too.

"People expect once charges are filed that warrants should be served and so it's frustrating to people in the community and the law enforcement officials involved as well," said

Officials with YSB did not want to comment, but say they have discussed the allegations with the students who attend the school."She's innocent until proven guilty, but if there was a misuse of funds, yes it does affect the children and it could affect the future of the alternative school," said Hillenburg.

WDRB was told the Crawford County Sheriff's Office is not investigating Millar for any other criminal activity.
