LOUISVILLE, Ky (WDRB) - An elderly Germantown resident was attacked and robbed in his home over Thanksgiving weekend.

"I was in the living room and I heard the doorbell ring so I got up to answer the door," Mac Tobias told WDRB.

Tobias, 78, was relaxing at home Saturday evening when he was attacked and robbed by two strangers.

"The outside door was locked and the two guys were standing there. They didn't have their face covered and I started talking to them but I couldn't hear clearly what the guy was saying," Tobias said.

He unlocked his storm door so he could better hear what one of the men was saying when they forced their way inside.

"They pushed me on the floor and started pepper spraying me. I said what's going on, what's going on and then they were both in the house and I said oh god no!"

That's when Tobias says one of the men tore through his house, stealing all the money he could find.

Tobias told WDRB his eyes were stinging so bad from the pepper spray, he could hardly see.

"Very, very painful. Stings like the devil," he said.

At the time, he didn't know if the men had intentions on using other weapons against him.

"They started hollering at me, where's your gun, I know you got a gun. Going through my mind was God, don't let them beat me up. God, don't let them kill me. That's all I could think about."

He said the men were both white and appeared to be in their 20's.

Tobias said they stole hundreds of dollars and his master key ring - which held keys to his house, his car and other properties he owns.

"Probably about 18 keys, so that's going to be expensive changing all those locks," Tobias said.

While police haven't found the suspects, Tobias said the officers in his area have been checking on him.

"She came and she said I just wanted to check on you because you was a hell of a mess last night when I left here so I appreciated that. I said most people don't even think about us old people."
