LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Homicide detectives are looking for suspects an early morning fatal shooting.

Officers found the man dead from gunshot wounds as they arrived on Ratcliffe Avenue near Dixie Highway and Algonquin Parkway just after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday.

LMPD spokesman Dwight Mitchell says the victim, believed to be in his 50s, was found outside his house where he lived alone.

Investigators spent most of the morning canvassing the neighborhood looking for possible witnesses. Detectives could be seen removing several bags of evidence from the victim's home.

Neighbors say they heard gunshots last night but didn't call police.

"It was just like, one, two, and then a pause, and then four more right after that," said Dominic McMillen, who lives nearby. "I didn't know whether to call the police or not, and then this happened, so I guess I should have."

Relatives arriving on the scene told WDRB News they were looking forward to celebrating Christmas at the victim's home, something they did every year.

"He was too nice," said Trena Green. "All these people you see out here was going to be there Christmas. We come every year. He has something for us every year -- for the whole world -- the whole word could come and he was going to share with you."

Homicide detectives say they have no suspects at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call the LMPD crime tipline at 502-574-LMPD (502-574-5673).
