Family and friends mourn the loss of 16-year-old

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Family and friends spent Saturday  afternoon remembering a teen who was murdered last weekend.

Shavon Ross, 16, died last Saturday after being shot several times behind a home in the Russell neighborhood near West Broadway and 24th Street.

Another teen, who was also shot, survived.

Ross family spokesman, Christopher 2X, says several teens were fighting in the days leading up to the shooting.

He believes more needs to be done with kids before they become this violent.

"There needs to be early intervention from the ages of 5 to 12 years old, especially with children who have the warning signs and the risk signs of deep anger and rage control issues," he said.

Police say the person accused of killing Ross, a 16-year-old, turned himself in on Tuesday.

He's been charged with murder and attempted murder.
