BOZICH | Kentucky nearly perfect in AP poll; Louisville ranked 4th

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – Perfection continues to elude John Calipari's Kentucky basketball team – by the smallest of margins and human error.

A week after the Wildcats (9-0) earned 62 of 65 first-place votes in the Associated Press College Basketball Top 25 poll, Kentucky gained all three of the votes that had gone to Wisconsin, which lost to Duke last week.

But UK still finished with 64 first-place votes.

The 65th and final vote?

It appears to be missing because only 64 first-place votes are reflected in the latest poll the AP shared with me. The poll posted at the AP web site shows that Bill Knight of the El Paso (Texas) Times did not file a ballot this week. Knight voted Kentucky first last week.

Louisville moved up one spot, from fifth to fourth, passing Wisconsin. Duke is ranked second, Arizona third, the Cards fourth and the Badgers fifth.

Indiana, Louisville's opponent Tuesday night in Madison Square Garden, received three points after they were voted 23rd by Paul Zeise of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, who covered IU's 81-69 win against Pitt last week.
