Owner of KT's Restaurant says housing and retail in the works nearby

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Several weeks ago the owner of the Village Anchor in East Louisville was brought in to take over KT's Restaurant.

“It has such a wonderful and magnificent history in Louisville since about 1985,” Village Anchor owner Kevin Grangier said of KT's.

KT's restaurant is located in the area between Lexington Road, Etley Avenue, and Grinstead Drive.

Grangier says he was initially approached by Kevin Cogan, with the Jefferson Development Group, to bring new life to this older business.

“You know for now I'm planning on keeping the structure of the restaurant as it is, and really doing a pretty good overhaul on it, making it a great new brand probably around the 1st quarter of next year,” said Kevin Grangier.

Grangier is hoping to bring in additional customers to the business and says a bigger plan for the area within the triangle may help.

“It's pretty magnificent as I understand it. It's to include living space, and first floor retail overlooking the park, and I really feel good about being part of this project both short term and long term,” said Grangier.

He says the Jefferson Development Group is spearheading the project to renovate the area.

Some businesses have already closed or have been sold. We reached out to businesses within the triangle, but most weren't willing to comment on camera.

Grangier says nothing will happen for a while with KT's, but he has high hopes for the business.

“You know the location really lends itself to something pretty spectacular just given it's location to the park and the great surrounding and how close we are to Bardstown Road and 64. It has so many opportunities,” said Grangier.

We reached out to the Jefferson Development Group numerous times on Monday to learn more details about this project.

As of this posting, they have not gotten back to us.
