LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Convicted again: The man who murdered a U of L student is about to learn how long he could spend behind bars.

This morning, sentencing is underway for Juan Raphael Pelegrin-Vidal.

Last night, a jury found him guilty of murder and burglary. Investigators say in Dec. 2002, he broke in and beat to death his 23-year-old ex-girlfriend, Elaine Fonseca Rodriqugez.

His 2007 conviction was overturned because the jury was improperly allowed to take a transcript of the 911 call back into chambers.

He faces 20 years to life without parole.
