LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Fourteen private child care centers will benefit from the largest Early Head Start grant in Kentucky.

The announcement came Wednesday at the White House Summit on Early Education.

The $3.4 million grant will be spent to expand access to Early Head Start for more than 190 children and their families.

Five of those centers are in Jefferson County's most impoverished neighborhoods including the Bluegrass Academy and Kreative Kidsz Childcare.

Families will now have access to year round full day center based services for their children for free.

In September, U.S. Congressman John Yarmuth toured JCPS Head Start programs, to support a bill that would expand early learning for children from birth to age five.
