Family, friends gather to remember Sam Swope

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Funeral services were held Saturday for a prominent Louisville businessman and philanthropist.

Family and friends gathered at Southeast Christian Church to remember Sam Swope.

The 88-year old died at his home on Tuesday.

He retired from the Swope Auto Group nearly three years ago.

Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell have both commended Swope's work as an entrepreneur calling him a pillar in the Louisville community and a Kentucky legend.

A private burial was held following the service at Cave Hill Cemetery.
