Light Up Schnitzelburg features neighborhood Christmas tree planted in 2010

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - Christmas wouldn't be complete without a little caroling and tree decorating.

That's exactly what happened Sunday at Light Up Schnitzelburg.

It was the second annual Christmas tree decorating and caroling event in the neighborhood.

Schnitzelburg has always put up a Christmas tree, but now it's combined with caroling at houses and pubs on Hickory Street.

The tree, dressed in garland and ornaments, has a special meaning.

"We planted the tree in 2010 and it's grown as you can see and its the perfect location for a tree, high visibility from Goss," said Susan Brunton of the Schnitzelburg Area Community Council. " It means a lot to the kids and families to get to come out and decorate the tree every year."

The neighborhood says it's a great way to reach out a variety of ages during the holidays.
