BOZICH | My weekly AP college basketball poll Top 25 ballot

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) – After several weeks of turmoil on my ballot in the Associated Press college basketball Top 25 poll, tranquility reigned.

Only two teams exited my Top 25 – Butler, a victim of its double-figure loss to Tennessee, and Iowa, a victim of getting run out of its home gym by rival Iowa State.

I also slipped Gonzaga ahead of Wichita State, a reward for the Zags' impressive win at UCLA, which has less than a 1 percent chance to beat Kentucky in Chicago Saturday.

Ready. Set. Go.

1. Kentucky (11-0) – The beat goes on. And on. And on.

2. Duke (8-0) – The Blue Devils end a 12-day break tonight. Something about exams.

3. Arizona (10-0) – Make certain you include Stanley Johnson in your Freshman of the Year discussion.

4. Virginia (9-0) – The Cavaliers are also taking 12 days off for testing and reading and, you know, college things.

5. Louisville (9-0) – The Cards looked better than number five against Indiana and not worthy of number five against North Carolina-Wilmington.

6. Wisconsin (10-1) – The Badgers are also taking this week off. Silly exams.

7. Texas (8-1) – Kentucky remains the only team to score 60 on the Longhorns.

8. Gonzaga (9-1) – The Zags have road wins at St. John's and UCLA. Can anybody else match that?

9. Wichita State (7-1) – The Shockers are as formidable as advertised.

10. Villanova (10-0) – The Wildcats can pretend they're in the ACC Saturday when they play Syracuse.

11. Kansas (8-1) – You know my issue with the Jayhawks.

12. Ohio State (8-1) – The Buckeyes play North Carolina in the undercard of the Kentucky-UCLA game in Chicago Saturday.

13. Oklahoma (6-2) – I'll confess: I'm a fan of Lon Kruger's coaching.

14. St. John's (8-1) – Only Gonzaga has stopped the Red Storm.

15. Maryland (10-1) – The Terps keep winning – without Dez Wells.

16. Iowa State (8-1) – If you watched the Cyclones punish Iowa Friday night (and I did) you know Fred Hoiberg has a lot of talented pieces.

17. West Virginia (9-1) – The Big 12 might be the best league in the country this season so we'll find out if the Mountaineers are legit soon.

18. Miami (9-1) – Another ACC team in the middle of an 11-day break for exams. What's going on here?

19. San Diego State (7-2) – The Aztecs visit Cincinnati Wednesday if you care to make the drive.

20. Utah (7-2) – Larry Krystkowiak is making the Utes relevant again.

21. Notre Dame (10-1) – The Irish visit the KFC Yum! Center March 4. A good time will be had by all.

22. Washington (8-0) – The Huskies needed a furious rally in the final five minutes to beat the Eastern Washington team that beat Indiana.

23. Baylor (8-1) – The Bears don't really have a signature win, but they're 13th in Ken Pomeroy's ratings.

24. Colorado State (10-0) – Think about how much better the Rams would be with Chane Behanan, who is a bench player in the NBA Developmental League.

25. Northern Iowa (9-1) – It took two overtimes and a trip to VCU to end NIU's perfect season.

DROPPED OUT: Butler, Iowa.

NEWCOMERS: Baylor, Colorado State.
