LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Seventeen non-profit organizations got a big boost today.

On Tuesday, the Community Foundation of Louisville announced almost $300,000 in grants to local organizations. The Community Foundation says it has been able to increase the amount given to non-profits by about $50,000 since the program's first year. The funds will be used to help the organizations meet their goals.

Community Foundation of Louisville President Susan Barry says every little bit helps.

"That one project, that one piece of software, that one training that might get them to really take something -- you talk about a launch period and then take-off -- we're hoping that these grants will give organizations a chance to take off and make things happen," Barry said.

The 17 non-profits were selected through an online application process.
