Emerald Ash Borer insect spreading across Indiana

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - The Emerald Ash Borer is spreading.

The insect has been detected in six more Indiana counties for the first time. 

The Department of Natural Resources says Jennings, Scott, Spencer, Pike, Sullivan and Warrick counties are now battling the invasive bug. 

The Emerald Ash Borer is known for killing ash trees. 

Out of the 92 counties in Indiana, 79 have now detected the insect. 

State officials say the bugs are often spread through fire wood.
