Ind. hospitals taking precautions against flu

Posted: Updated:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Indiana hospitals are trying to protect patients and staff from the flu.

The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health recommends people who have cold or flu-like symptoms should wear a mask in public areas in the hospital. It also says no visitors under the age of 18 or any age with flu-like symptoms will be allowed to visit patients.

Allen County had its first-flu-related death of the season.

All major hospitals in Indianapolis began similar restrictions on Monday.
