Woman hit by concrete truck dies a week-and-a-half later

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- For the second time in six months, a pedestrian hit by an Advance Ready Mix Concrete truck in Louisville has died.

Family members say Anita Marie Duvall died on Dec. 20 following complications from injuries. Duvall was struck by the truck on December 11 while crossing at 12th St. and Broadway. She was on her way to lunch.

Anita Duvall worked at Stry and Lenkoff Publications for decades. Her son, Damon Duvall, spent time at his mother's workplace on Monday.

"This was her home," said Duvall. "Every morning she'd get up at six and be there at seven. "This was her life."

Duvall and his attorney filed a lawsuit against Advance Ready Mix Concrete on Dec. 18. The company is also being sued for a fatal accident at the foot of the Second Street bridge earlier this year. That case is still pending in circuit court.

"My children do not have a grandmother," Duvall said. "My grandmother doesn't have a daughter. My uncle doesn't have a sister. My cousins don't have a cousin. You're affecting people's lives."

WDRB reached out to Advance Ready Mix Concrete for comment, but has not heard back.

Anita Duvall's funeral is on Dec. 27.
