LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- After a month of bad news and hospital visits, a 3-year-old Clarmont boy gets to celebrate Christmas a few days early.

This will be the first Christmas 3-year-old Oakley Larimore will spend on chemotherapy. He was diagnosed with Leukemia last month.

"It's just terrible, knowing your child has cancer and there is nothing you can do for him," said his mother Jessica Larimore.

When Kentucky State Police troopers from post four heard about Oakley's condition, they lined up to help. Knowing Oakley wouldn't be able to make it to the annual "shop with a trooper" event, they brought the presents to him.

"They needed a little help today, a little push, a little something extra to get them through the Christmas season and let them know that everything is going to be okay," said Trooper Brad Riley. "Maybe we were able to do that today."

Tpr. Riley led the effort to give Oakley an early Christmas surprise, knowing all too well the hardship that accompanies pediatric cancer.

At 5-years-old, Riley's son died of the same form of Leukemia. Making Monday's gift delivery all that more special for Riley, yet all that more difficult.

"I saw underneath his cap where he was bald from where he has been going through treatment. It made me a little more excited and nervous, because it reminded me of my past and my families past," he said. "But to see his smile, that was the best thing anyone could see."

As for Christmas miracles, none will beat the one happening in Oakley's Bullitt County home Monday night.

"Today when we went in for his check up, they went over all our information and let us know he is in remission today," said Larimore.

Assuring mom that Santa read her one item wish list. He just decided to deliver it three days early.
