LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Charles Fambrough was 20-years-old when he was shot on Christmas Day in 2012.

Fambrough died later at the hospital and for the past two years his murder has been a shock to friends and family.

“It's heartbreaking because now Christmas will never be the same for us,” said Megan Brown, who was Fambrough's girlfriend.

A small memorial sits at the corner of 24th Street and Portland Avenue to mark the spot where it happened.

“He was a great man. He never did any wrong. He cared for people. He loved people,” said Megan Brown.

Megan Brown visits his memorial site weekly and sometimes brings their son William along to help remember his father.

“You shouldn't have to have a memorial at 3-years-old to see your dad having a cross on the ground saying RIP. It shouldn't be like that,” said Brown.

Brown is fearful that after two years with no answers, this is now a cold case. But we've been told LMPD is still actively investigating the murder.

Brown says someone knows who the killer is and Fambrough's loved ones continue to spend Christmas after Christmas waiting for answers.

“That's not fair to my son. It's not fair to me. It's not fair to his family,” said Brown.

They're hopeful this is the year someone will finally come forward with answers, or that the person responsible will contact police.

“That would be the best Christmas present of all,” said Brown.

Family members say on the night Fambrough was shot, he had just left his mother's house and was walking his sister home.
