I'm tired of people doing and saying really stupid things. Like when Attica Scott said everyone knows the police have always had a license to kill young unarmed black men. Pure nonsense.
"The cops are awesome. They are the only thing standing between us and the wild, wild west. The notion that white cops are out there killing black people is just ridiculous."
Like Mary Woolridge, a Metro Council member coming out of a council meeting last week and giving the "hands up, don't shoot" sign to the two police officers standing there to protect Council members. What a needless insult to all the great and dedicated police officers everywhere. Thank goodness Jim King apologized on behalf of the Council even though she hasn't.
At some point we need to take a break from blaming each other and take personal responsibility for ourselves. We have to understand that no matter what color we are, if we punch a cop, charge a cop, or point a gun - even a toy one - at a cop, we are responsible for what happens next.
I like what the police are saying now. First comply, then challenge. Even if you think the cop is wrong, do what he says and then challenge it - if you must. What part of that doesn't make sense? Call and give us your thoughts.
