LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (AP) -- An animal shelter in Utah says it will take in a dog from Indiana that faced possibly being euthanized and its cremated ashes being mixed with those of its late owner.

Connie Ley of Aurora, Indiana, died in November and her attorney said her will stipulates that her German shepherd named Bela either go to the Best Friends Animal Society no-kill sanctuary near Kanab, Utah, or be euthanized. That's because Ley felt the 105-pound dog was aggressive and not safe around strangers.

The Best Friends shelter said Tuesday it was arranging to move Bela to Utah from an animal shelter in Lawrenceburg, about 20 miles west of Cincinnati.

The organization says it had no contact with Ley before her death.
