Five dead following crash near Peru, Indiana

PERU, Ind. (WDRB) -- Five people are dead after a crossover crash Friday near Peru, Indiana.

Indiana State Police say for some reason, the driver of a red car lost control on US 31 South, overcorrected, went into the median, and then ended up in the northbound lanes.

The car hit an on-coming semi that tried to get out of the way.

Two adults and two kids in the car died at the scene.

A third child, flown to the hospital later died.

The driver has been identified as 43-year-old Dennis Nguyen of Arkansas, and his 44-year-old wife Thu Ha Cao, was in the front seat.

The names and ages of the children involved have not yet been released.
