LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) - A suspect wanted for attempted murder and criminal mischief has been shot by police after a pursuit involving LMPD and Kentucky State Police, MetroSafe confirms.

The female suspect led police on a chase that ended at Newburg Road and the Watterson Expressway shortly after 4:30 p.m.

The woman was wanted for attempted murder after she fired several shots earlier today in a domestic dispute, KSP Public Affairs Officer Jared Newberry said.

A chase ensued, and she attempted to drive into New Albany, but officers were waiting for her on the bridge.

She then turned around and the chase continued until KSP successfully executed vehicle intervention at I-264 and Newburg Road.

Stopped in her car, the suspect pulled out a gun, which is when a KSP officer fired eight or nine shots, Newberry said.

The woman is at University Hospital in serious condition, though she is expected to recover.

The exit and entrance ramps of I-264 at Newburg Road reopened around three Monday morning.
