Charlotte, NC (WDRB) -As the Louisville Cardinals stepped off their bus Saturday into the great unknown, one man managed to keep his cool.
That man was head coach Bobby Petrino.
As he put on his fire proof uniform, coach was asked if he was nervous.
You couldn't blame him if deep down he really was. Petrino was the first Cardinal representative to take part in the Richard Petty Driving Experience, a planned outing at Charlotte Motor Speedway for both teams in the Belk Bowl.
Coach didn't drive but he did go fast. After taking a few laps around the track, he climbed out of his stock car, shook his head, and had this to report.
"Wow. Wow. Wow. That's going fast."
The rest of the Louisville football team quickly joined in on the run, taking the ride of their lives, going well over 150 miles an hour.
"My stomach started to bubble a little bit," said Sophomore Keith Towbridge. I didn't think I would ever go that fast in my life."
The Cardinals wound up in the winners Circle Saturday. It was only for a team picture but the Cardinals wouldn't mind if it were a preview of things to come Tuesday night when they battle Georgia
"I think it's just fun," said Petrino. "Something you'll always remember. Something where you get away from football a little bit. This is one of the rewards for getting to a great bowl like this."
